Have you ever been in the situation where your house is up for sale but you have watched it sit on the market for weeks, even months? There may be a few reasons why. Here are the 4 main culprits that can cause that to happen:

Reason #1: You need better photos. Nowadays, with all of the digital technology that has come about, people have become more visually engaged. With subpar pictures, a person interested in buying a home will not think twice about looking at your house if it does not look appealing. Try hiring a professional photographer to take pictures of your home to grasp more attention. A picture really is worth a thousand words.

Reason #2: Your home needs staging work. You never want your home to look messy, too cluttered, and over all just too much for the buyer. What can help is moving around frames, decorations, and furniture in your home that way it can look roomier and more aesthetically pleasing. In some cases, you may have to spend some money (on cracked driveways, old school kitchens, etc.) but in the end, it will all be worth the effort.

Reason #3: Your home screams, YOU! Over the years, you may have painted some crazy, loud colors in your home that totally fit your personality, but that doesn’t mean that other people will connect with it. Try painting over the exotic colors with neutral colors that most people like. Also, try refraining from showing too many photos of your family. You want the buyer’s attention on the home, not your family.

Reason #4: Your home is simply priced too high. The market sets the price of their home, not you or the buyer. Try reducing the price of your home by 5% or maybe even 10%. This will surely turn heads and initiate interest. Whatever price you end up at doesn’t mean that will be the maximum price it’s worth. People can easily start a bidding war.
